Frequently Asked Questions

What is your performance style?

I play solo - just me and an acoustic guitar.  No electronic gadgets,  no band (even though I love to play with other musicians, I rarely have the opportunity).  When the vibe is right, I share a little background on each song - just a bit of story-telling to engage the audience.  If people are busy talking with one another, I dispense with the story-telling and just play back-to-back songs.

Songs in your repertoire?

My repertoire includes hundreds of songs, so I can tailor sets to the audience.  In a fine dining setting, the mood is quiet - folk and jazz ballads.  In a bar, selections are more lively and I love to fill requests, ranging from "Jolene" or "Flowers"to "Bobcaygeon," "Tennessee Whisky" and "Hotel California."  I usually pop in some blues, some John Prine and one or two originals per set.  My composition, "Sprucedale Hotel" is always good for a few laughs! When I play at retirement homes, I choose oldies like "Blue Moon," "Que Sera, Sera" and "Country Roads" so residents can sing along.

How much do you charge?

Fees can vary depending on location and venue.  Generally, minimum is $325+HST for up to two hours with one break.  Three hours (two 20-minute breaks) $375 and four hours (three breaks) $425.  If the venue is a long way to drive, or setup / teardown is complicated, fees will increase.
